Reuters reported that Korea's "crushing victory" had sealed the team's sixth successive World Cup finals appearance. It particularly focused on the play of 'whizkid forwards', Park Ju-young and Lee Dong-gook.

Reuters also hinted at expectations for the team's success in the 2006 World Cup, quoting national squad coach Jo Bonfrere's comments that his team is young and will become better.

Meanwhile, the official website for the 2006 World Cup featured a picture of Park Ju-young’s post-goal celebration and reported that Korea had advanced to the finals "in style."
