Cloning pioneer Hwang Woo-seok is eligible for a patent on his stem cell research.

In a press conference Tuesday, Korean Intelluctual Property Office Commissioner Kim Jong-kap said Hwang can receive a patent on his research if he applies for one.

Kim said Hwang's technique of stem cell cultivation does not violate bioethics law, and that his research meets patent requirements of novelty and industrial applicability
