International sports groups are collectively resisting the International Olympic Committee's vote to drop certain Olympic events.
The committee will vote on July 8th in Singapore two days after selecting the host city for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The Korean Olympic Committee on Monday said organizations representing the games' 28 events will discuss joint countermeasures against the vote in an urgent Geneva meeting on July 7th.
IOC President Jacques Rogge wants to eliminate certain sports that fail to gain a two-thirds majority in the vote.
South Korea is worried that taekwondo will not remain an official event due to lobbying by other countries. The last sport dropped from the Olympics was polo in 1936.
In 2002, the IOC capped the number of Olympic sports at 28, that of events at 301 and that of athletes at 10,500.
