Genomics Funding Raised by W100 Bln

The government will invest an additional one hundred billion won for domestic genomics research by 2010.

The project aims to develop customized cures for citizens.

The Health and Welfare Ministry on Friday held a presentation on interim results of the research.

Genomics is the study of all nucleotide sequences in an organism's chromosomes.

The government has spent 84 billion won since 2000 to set up a civilian genetic database and management system to identify genes causing some one thousand diseases.
