Kang Goes for IOC Commission Seat

The Korea Olympic Committee has recommended skeleton competitor Kang Kwang-bae for the Athletes' Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The domestic pioneer of the sliding sport, Kang competed in the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics and the 2002 Salt Lake City games.

Competitors in the 2006 Torino Olympics will elect commission members after the IOC Executive Board reviews the candidates.

Short-track gold medalist Chun Yee-kyung has served as the country's commission member since 2002.

The commission of 19 active and retired athletes is a link between competitors and the IOC.
