FIFA Sanction on NK to Stick

FIFA has rejected an appeal to the relocation of a North Korea-Japan World Cup qualifier to Bangkok without fans.

In a letter delivered to the Korea Football Association Friday, FIFA President Sepp Blatter urged respect for the decision reached by soccer's world governing body after rigorous consideration.

Association president Chung Mong-joon on May 1st sent a letter to Blatter calling the punishment "inappropriate" and asking for a lighter penalty.

Blatter said the judgement is final since the North failed to appeal.

FIFA moved the site of the June 3rd qualifier to punish fan violence in Pyongyang on March 30th after the North's loss to Iran.
