More than six-point-four million people are forecast to subscribe to satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) by 2019.

The findings were based on a survey conducted by the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute of Korea on one-thousand adults across the nation from February to March.

The survey showed that the number of satellite DMB subscribers will post 324-thousand this year and rise to 974-thousand in 2007.

The survey also found that most of the respondents are not willing to pay more than 14-thousand-500 won per month for DMB services while 29 percent set 500-thousand won as the most appropriate price for a DMB handset.

In terms of content, a quarter of respondents wanted to watch movies on their DMB handsets, followed by sports, news and music videos.

The electronics research institute said that, despite the survey results and anticipation from the government and corporate sectors, demand for satellite DMB services is not expected to witness significant growth within the first few years of its launching.

The DMB technology enables subscription to crystal clear audio and video services delivered to mobile phones or in-car devices.
