On the occasion of the United Nations' "International Year of Physics 2005," the nation will take part in the World Light Festival Tuesday evening.
The worldwide event marks the 50th anniversary of scientist Albert Einstein's death.
Starting off in Princeton, New Jersey, a beam of light will travel around the world for 24 hours. It will arrive in Busan around 8 pm Tuesday before reaching Namsan in Seoul.
The event's highlight will be the light's transmission by laser to Yeouido Park near the Han River.
Scheduled before the light arrives are public messages from President Roh Moo-hyun and celebrities and laser shows.
From there, the light will head for Gaesung Industrial Complex in North Korea before returning to Seoul, and will then go to Beijing at 9 pm.
