Soccer Body to Punish N. Korea

FIFA, soccer's world governing body, has hinted at strong action against North Korea for the crowd violence that occurred after a March 30 World Cup qualifier in Pyongyang.

AFP reported Tuesday that FIFA President Sepp Blatter said the body's disciplinary committee has already begun a probe into the incident.

He added that he will not interfere, but warned that in the past, the committee has handed down tough penalties.

Kyodo News Agency of Japan, meanwhile, said the Asian Football Confederation will not change the venue of the North Korea-Japan game on June 9 despite the incident.
