NK to Face Discipline Over Crowd Violence

North Korea may face sanctions over the violent behavior of its fans in a recent World Cup qualifier.

Japanese media says FIFA, soccer's world governing body, may even hold a June 8 match between the North and Japan in Pyongyang without any spectators.

Asian Football Confederation General Secretary Peter Velappan said he will ask FIFA to take proper action, condemning the violence that ensued after Iran's 2-0 defeat of North Korea in Pyongyang Wednesday.

He added that he believes the North Korean players who defied the referee will certainly face disciplinary action.

Meanwhile, Junji Ogura, vice president of the Japan Football Association, has asked the AFC to demand tighter security for the June match.
