Humanoid Robot Gets New Girlfriend

The world's first humanoid robot with artificial intelligence fed from a network, "Maru," now has a girlfriend.

The Korea Institute of Science and Technology said Monday that it has developed a female robot, "Ara," three months after it made Maru in January.

Ara features a different color and surface than her male counterpart, and a female voice. She is to serve as Maru's companion and partner.

Ara can walk in all four directions and even diagonally, and is capable of recognizing images, sound, movement and objects.

With artificial intelligence transmitted from a network, both robots can work together on tasks they cannot do alone, or cooperate on a job for more efficiency.
