Gwangju City and South Jeolla Province are bidding to jointly host the 2014 Asian Games.

A Gwangju City official said Thursday that the two sides had presented their application to co-host the Asian Games to the Korea Olympic Committee.

The Asian Olympic Committee will decide the venue of the 2014 Asian Games, which is held every four years in between the Olympic Games.

The Asian Games were held twice in South Korea; in Seoul in 1986, and in Busan in 2002.
