S.Korea to Set up APEC Weather Center

South Korea plans to set up an Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation weather center later this year to provide abnormal weather forecasts to countries in the Asia Pacific region.

The proposed weather center will open in tandem with the 13th annual APEC summit meeting scheduled for November in the southern port city of Busan.

The Ministry of Science and Technology says relevant details on the establishment of the planned weather center will be finalized at the 28th round of the APEC Industrial Science and Technology Working Group meeting, which kicked off in Gwangju on Tuesday.

Some one hundred representatives from 21 APEC member countries are attending the three-day meeting, which was jointly organized by the Science Ministry and Gwangju city.
