President Roh Moo-hyun stressed the importance of balanced development of science and technology, during a briefing by the Ministry of Science and Technology on Friday.

Roh said the fruits of technological development should be distributed evenly to most people.

Roh explained the nation is looking develop its science and technology level to the world’s best, but that the positive outcome from such development would be halved if the fruits belong only to some people.

He expressed concern about the possibility of a technological development gap between industries, businesses and the people triggering social conflicts.

The president also said he was assured of the nation’s future as a scientific giant.
