An oriental medicine research center in southeastern Daegu says it has developed an easier method for experts to discern among different types of ginseng stock.

Researchers at Daegu Haany University said Monday they developed a method called pyro-sequencing, different from the widely used methord based on PCR or Polymerase Chain Reaction, to analyze the DNA of the root plant and determine its medicinal value.

In particular, researchers said the method can quickly and accurately determine if a certain stock of ginseng root was actually from South Korea or produced overseas.
