A group of South Korean researchers has developed the world's first robot with genes and chromosomes.

The research team led by Professor Kim Jong-hwan at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology integrated 14 artificial chromosomes into the robot and determined that each chromosome subsequently developed unique characteristics.

The artificial chromosomes, designed to enable a robot to express thoughts and desires, are a type of computer software that react to different kinds of stimuli.
