S. Korea Ranks 2nd in 22nd Winter Universiade

South Korea dominated the short-track speed skating events at the 22nd Winter Universiade in Innsbruck, Austria on its way to rank 2nd in the overall medal tally with ten gold, seven silver and six bronze medals.

On the last day of the games Saturday, Choi Eun-kyung won the women's 3,000-meter short-track race, clocking in at five minutes and 7.573 seconds, ahead of teammates Kim Min-jung and Cho Ha-ri. Choi then added another gold as a member of the women's 3,000-meter relay team, which finished in four minutes and 26.376 seconds, outpacing Japan and China.

Choi dominated all female events in her sport by grabbing a total of five gold medals during the eleven-day event.

In men's short-track racing, Ahn Hyung-soo helped Team Korea garner two more golds on Saturday, one each in the 3,000-meter and in the 5,000-meter relay.

The next Winter Universiade takes place in 2007 in Turin, Italy.
