South Korean goalkeeper Lee Woon-jae was rated Asia's best and 17th worldwide by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

Italy's Gianluigi Buffon of FC Juventus Torino was rated the top goalkeeper for this year.

Meanwhile, Germany's Oliver Kahn of FC Bayern München, who was the world's best between 1999 and 2002, fell to 6th place overall.
