Oriental medicine experts from South Korea, China and Japan are seeking to agree on a "map" of acupuncture points on the human body important for treatment of various human ailments.

About 361 acupuncture points are currently known to exist, but the exact locations of about a fourth of them, or some 92 points, have yet to be agreed upon among experts from the three countries.

The formulation of such a map is seen as crucial to efforts to gain official recognition of accupuncture's health benefits by international groups such as the World Health Organization (WHO).
