S. Korean Short-Track Skaters Nab Gold at World Junior Championships

South Korea’s Lee Ho-Suk nabbed a gold medal on Saturday, the first day of the World Junior Short-Track Championships in Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro.

Lee garnered the gold after finishing in two minutes and 13.34 seconds in the men's 1,500 meters. Canada’s Mathieu Giroux captured the silver while another South Korean, Kwak Yoon-Gy came in third with two minutes and 13.97 seconds.

Both Lee and Kwak broke the previous record of two minutes and 16.24 seconds posted by fellow S. Korean Kim Hyung-Kon in the 2003 championships.
Meanwhile, in the women's 1,500 meters, Park Sun-Young added another gold to South Korea’s medal tally after posting a winning time of two minutes and 25.43 seconds.
