Local scientists have succeeded in the world's largest experiment concerning the evolution of the universe, and say they have unveiled the mystery of the creation of cosmic bodies.
The Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information announced that a team led by Professor Park Chang-beom and Mr. Kim Joo-han at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study succeeded in a numerical simulation experiment based on several hypothetical theories attempting to explain the mystery of the origin of the universe. This daunting task was regarded as too difficult to be solved relying only on telescopic observation.
The latest findings are expected to serve as a critical key in the continuous quest to deepen human understanding of the history of the universe, from the Big Bang to the creation of galaxies, stars, planets and living beings.
This July, a South Korean delegation led by professor Park will join countries such as the U.S., Japan and Germany, and participate in the Sloan Digital Survey Sky(SDSS) project, a global study on astronomy.
