Season’s First Cold Wave Hits the Country

A cold snap gripped the country on Monday, pushing down the morning low to minus 5.5 degrees Celsius in Seoul.

Morning lows on Monday went down to minus 7.2 degrees Celsius in Dongduchon - the lowest in the country - minus 7 degrees in Cheolwon, minus 6.3 in Gangwha and minus 4.4 in Inchon.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said Monday that the temperature would drop further Tuesday, with some rain or snow expected on the following day. The the mercury is expected to plunge to minus 6 degrees Celcius in Seoul in the coming days.

The weather officials said the chilly weather will gradually subside around Friday.
