Information and Communication Minister Chin Dae-je says the government will stress a sound business ecological system in its information technology (IT) policy, due to the change in paradigm of the IT industry.

At a meeting with South Korean reporters in New York Wednesday, Minister Jin unveiled a nine-point plan to invigorate small and medium IT venture firms, dubbed “IT SMERP.”

Minister Chin, who is now in the United States to attract foreign investment, said a customer-oriented policy will be introduced to strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium IT businesses that are different in business type, size and growth level.

He also stressed the creation of a sound business ecological system where small IT venture firms can cooperate each other.

Chin added the government also plans to appoint an IT official at its overseas embassies, whose duty is to collect related information and address any possible trade friction.
