Sixteen-year-old Korean-American skater Kim Hyo-jung won the 1,000-meter event at the Wold Cup short-track tournament on Sunday.

Kim, a member of U.S. team, captured her first World Cup medal by winning the final 1,000-meter speed skating event held in Madison, Wisconsin.

The South Korea-born Kim had emigrated to the United States with her parents in 1979.
