Winter to be Warmer than Usual

The coming winter will be warmer than usual years.

That's according to the Korea Meteorological Administration, which predicts that rising sea temperatures on the back of a weak El Nino effect will push up the mercury during the country's cold season.

The report also projected a sudden cold spell to grip the nation once or twice in the season as cold high-pressure fronts develop over the continent.

With warm Pacific current heightening the humidity level, the Korean peninsula is expected to see increased precipitation.

The weather agency said that heavy snow would hit inland and moutainous regions in particular, including the Youngdong area of Gangwon province.
