1st Asian PGA Tournie to Open in Jeju

The 2004 Shinhan Korea Golf Championship will open at the Jungmun Golf Club in Jeju Island on Thursday.
Organizing officials said Monday they had invited 38 players from the PGA Tour and the PGA European Tour.
The players include South Korea's Choi Kyung-ju, Na Sang-wook, the world's 8th-ranked player, Padraig Harrington from Ireland, 14th-ranked Miguel A. Jimenez from Spain and Nick Faldo from Great Britain.
The total purse is 3.6 million dollars, one million of which will go to the winner. The Shinhan Korea Golf Championship will be the first-ever PGA tour event to be held in Asia.
