South Korea's Under-20 squad has advanced to the finals of the Asian Football Confederation Youth Championship after defeating Japan in a penalty shootout.
At the match held Wednesday night in Kuala Lumpur, Baek Ji-hoon and Park Joo-young gave Korea the lead in regulation and then again during extra time, but Japan equalized each time for a two-to-two tie, forcing a penalty shootout.
Defending champions South Korea finally came through 3-1 in the spot kicks and didn't need their final kick as the Japanese challenge collapsed.
South Korea will face China in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur on Saturday in the championship match.
