The government says two U.S. investors distorted Prime Minister Kim Min-seok’s words when they filed an investor-state dispute settlement(ISDS) case against the South Korean government.

The Office for Government Policy Coordination dismissed claims by Greenoaks and Altimeter that remarks Kim made during a policy briefing in December were directed at Coupang.

The firms made the claims in the ISDS case they filed on Thursday.

The policy coordination office said Kim’s remarks on December 19 of last year were focused on pledges to establish a fair market order by tackling unfair economic practices to ultimately create an economic order trusted by investors.

The office said the prime minister was not seeking to sanction or penalize Coupang or any other specific company in any country.

The office stressed that Kim had not mentioned any countries or companies by name.
