Authorities are mounting an all-out effort to contain a wildfire in Gijang County, Busan, which is now burning for a second day.

The Busan Metropolitan City Fire & Disaster Headquarters and the Korea Forest Service said Thursday that the fire was 65 percent contained as of 6:30 a.m. and had impacted eleven hectares of land.

Fire authorities had issued a Level Two emergency response the previous day, and the Korea Forest Service activated a Level One wildfire response posture at 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Several nearby roads were fully or partially closed, and evacuation advisories were issued to around 30 employees and guests at a nearby resort.

About 340 personnel from the fire department, forest service, police and city worked overnight to establish firebreaks and prevent the flames from spreading.

After sunrise at around 7:30 a.m., authorities began deploying 17 helicopters to contain the blaze.
