The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) expanded gains on Monday to break the four-thousand-900 mark for the first time in intraday trading.

The main bourse rose 64-point-72 points, or one-point-34 percent, from Friday’s closing to reach four-thousand-905-point-46 at 1:59 p.m.

The index, which opened at four-thousand-829-point-four — down eleven-point-34 points, or zero-point-23 percent, from Friday — fluctuated sideways amid concerns over the Trump administration’s tariffs and geopolitical tensions surrounding Greenland.

After a turnup, shares continued to rise and hit a record four-thousand-906-point-07 at one point in trading.

Since the start of the new year, the KOSPI has posted fresh highs for 12 consecutive trading days.
