Supreme Court Justice Park Young-jae has been appointed the new minister of the National Court Administration(NCA). 

The Supreme Court announced on Tuesday that Chief Justice Jo Hee-de named Park to succeed current Minister Chun Dae-yup. 

Park will assume his new post Friday, while Chun will return to his former role as a justice. 

The NCA minister is a key figure in the judiciary, tasked with the personnel and budget affairs of the nation’s courts. 

An NCA minister does not get involved in Supreme Court trials but serves on the committees to recommend Supreme Court justice candidates and candidates for the head of the Corruption Investigation Office For High-Ranking Officials.

Park was appointed Supreme Court justice by former President Yoon Suk Yeol in August 2024 on Jo’s recommendation.
