KOSPI Climbs above 4,400 in Early Trading

South Korean stocks extended their record‑breaking rally on Monday, with the KOSPI climbing above the four‑thousand‑400 mark in early trading.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) opened more than one‑point‑seven percent higher from last Friday at four‑thousand‑385‑point‑92, topping its previous intraday high of four‑thousand‑313‑point‑55 set that day.

The main bourse continued to climb, reaching four‑thousand‑400‑point‑72 at 9:02 a.m., up 91‑point‑09 points, or two‑point‑11 percent, from the previous session.

As of 9:27 a.m., the KOSPI stood at four‑thousand‑417‑point‑95.

The tech‑heavy KOSDAQ also opened higher, rising zero‑point‑32 percent to 948‑point‑56 and maintaining its upward momentum through early trading.

In the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won‑U.S. dollar rate was trading in the low one‑thousand‑440‑won range.
