A U.S. nuclear-powered submarine has arrived in the southeastern port city of Busan to replenish supplies and allow its crew to rest.

South Korea’s Navy said Tuesday that the USS Greeneville, a Los Angeles‑class attack submarine, entered the naval base in Busan earlier in the day.

The 65‑hundred‑ton vessel measures 110 meters in length and ten meters in width. It carries a crew of about 110 and is equipped with four torpedo tubes and 12 vertical launch system tubes for Tomahawk cruise missiles.

The Navy said the visit will help strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the South Korean and U.S. navies and reinforce their combined defense posture.

Tuesday’s entry marks the first visit by a U.S. nuclear‑powered submarine to South Korea in about ten months, following the USS Alexandria’s visit in February.
