Starting next year, the government will simplify procedures for foreign residents who are required to report their employment status to authorities.

The justice ministry said on Tuesday that it plans to expand the existing online portal, which, until now, has prompted foreign workers to submit their employment information in person, on January 2.

Following the update, all employment reporting and revisions can be done through the ministry-run Hi Korea website.

Foreigners with certain visa types who engage in profitable activity are required to report changes in employment status to the government.
