Three out of ten young people in South Korea say they have experienced burnout, or exhaustion of physical or emotional strength, as a result of prolonged stress or frustration.

According to a report from the Statistics Research Institute under the Ministry of Data and Statistics on Tuesday, 32-point-two percent of the country's young people said they felt burnt out as of last year, a slight drop from 33-point-nine percent in 2022.

However, the proportion outside the capital area rose from 30 percent in 2022 to 33-point-three percent.

A greater number of women, 36-point-two percent, experienced burnout, compared to 28-point-six percent of men. The most affected group was those aged 25 to 29, 34-point-eight percent of whom had experienced the feeling.

Career anxiety was the most common reason for burnout at 39-point-one percent, followed by overwork at 18-point-four percent and skepticism about tasks at 15-point-six percent.
