The Constitutional Court is set to rule next week on the impeachment trial of Police Commissioner General Cho Ji-ho, who is accused of aiding the December 3 martial law declaration.

The court said on Monday that it will rule at 2 p.m. on Thursday, one year after the National Assembly passed a motion to impeach the police chief.

The motion accused Cho of blocking lawmakers' entry to the Assembly in a bid to obstruct voting to revoke the decree, as well as of dispatching officers to the National Election Commission and its training center.

During his trial, Cho requested an inquiry into whether any other government ministry or agency that convened a meeting after the martial law declaration had decided the move was unconstitutional, but the court denied the request.

Cho was indicted and detained in January on charges of participating in an insurrection, but was later released on bail due to a cancer diagnosis.
