The Korea Railroad Corporation(KORAIL) said Thursday that train services will run normally after the Korean Railway Workers’ Union called off a planned strike.

Labor and management reached a tentative agreement around 7 a.m. on key issues, including the normalization of performance‑based bonuses.

The strike, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., was put on hold following the deal.

The government said that matters related to bonus reform will be addressed through the public institution management committee once the necessary procedures are completed.

A union official said the decision to suspend the strike and pursue intensive negotiations was made to minimize inconvenience to the public.

The official also apologized for causing concern, adding that railway workers will continue to ensure safe public rail service.
