The U.S. Department of State has approved the foreign military sale to South Korea of GBU-39 small-diameter bombs(SDBs) and related equipment.

The estimated value of the 624 Boeing SDBs, approved for sale as requested by Seoul, is estimated at 111-point-eight million U.S. dollars.

The SDB is a precision-guided glide bomb that is intended to allow aircraft to carry a greater number of smaller, more accurate bombs.

The SDBs were initially deployed to combat in 2006, and they are currently operated by the U.S., Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia and Australia.

The imported SDBs are expected to be loaded onto the South Korean Air Force’s F-15K and F35-A fighter jets.
