Former English Premier League midfielder Jesse Lingard will part ways with FC Seoul after the two sides agreed not to activate a one-year extension option at the end of the 2025 season.

FC Seoul said Friday that the player has expressed a desire to pursue the next stage of his career elsewhere and that it respects his decision, commending him for his contributions and professionalism over the past two seasons.

Lingard, one of the highest-profile foreign players ever to feature in the K League, joined FC Seoul in February 2024 and went on to play 60 league matches, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists.

A product of Manchester United’s youth system, he played 232 matches for the club across all competitions and earned 32 England caps, including a run to the semifinals of the 2018 World Cup.

Lingard posted six goals and three assists during his debut K League campaign and 10 goals and four assists this season.
