A special counsel team investigating the December 3 martial law declaration plans to indict and charge former main opposition People Power Party(PPP) floor leader Choo Kyung-ho with aiding former President Yoon Suk Yeol's martial law declaration.

Assistant counselor Park Ji-young said on Friday that the team will likely file the indictment over the weekend and believes the charges were sufficiently justified at Choo's recent detention hearing.

A Seoul court ruled against Choo's pretrial detention on Wednesday, determining that there was room to dispute the charges and that Choo was not a flight risk.

The indictment will center on whether Choo deliberately blocked lawmakers from attending a vote to revoke Yoon's December 3 decree.

The special team is also deliberating on when to indict and charge former Justice Minister Park Sung-jae with meddling in bribery and stock manipulation investigations centered on former first lady Kim Keon-hee.
