President Lee Jae Myung on Friday dismissed vice agriculture minister Kang Hyoung-seok following a controversy over the official’s improprieties

The top office announced in a notice that Lee dismissed Kang after it confirmed he had abused his authority and engaged in “inappropriate behavior.”

The office stopped short of elaborating on Kang's wrongdoing, citing that the issue is related to an inspection conducted on the former minister. 

Kang is the first vice minister-level public official who was appointed after the launch of the Lee Jae Myung administration to be dismissed following an inspection.
