South Korea posted a current account surplus for the 30th consecutive month in October, but the figure fell to about half of September’s level due to reduced working days during the Chuseok holiday.

The Bank of Korea’s preliminary Balance of Payments for October 2025, released Friday, showed a current account surplus of six‑point‑81 billion U.S. dollars, down from 13‑point‑47 billion dollars the previous month.

Despite the decline, the cumulative surplus from January to October reached 89‑point‑58 billion dollars, about 17 percent higher than the same period last year.

The goods account posted a surplus of seven‑point‑82 billion dollars in October, roughly half of September’s 14‑point‑24 billion dollars.

Exports fell four‑point‑seven percent year‑over‑year in October, and imports dropped five percent.
