Conservative and liberal civic groups will stage rallies near the National Assembly on Wednesday to mark the anniversary of former President Yoon Suk Yeol's short-lived declaration of martial law.

The liberal group, Bisang Action, plans to lead a march from National Assembly Station to the main opposition People Power Party(PPP) headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, starting around 7 p.m., calling for social reforms and a reckoning over the Dec. 3 martial law case.

President Lee Jae Myung and representatives from the ruling Democratic Party(DP) and minor Rebuilding Korea Party will join the march.

The conservative group Freedom Union will stage a rally at the same subway station at 3 p.m. in support of Yoon's declaration.

Two other conservative groups will also gather in parts of Yeouido on Wednesday afternoon to call for Lee's resignation and oppose calls for an apology from the PPP.
