Seoul to Operate 24-hour Support Center to Tackle Freezing Weather

Seoul city will operate a comprehensive support center to help vulnerable groups as a cold snap watch is set to be issued for 21 of its districts from 9 p.m. Tuesday. 

The Seoul Metropolitan Government said the support center will be open around the clock to protect citizens from freezing conditions and provide emergency response.

To prevent cold weather casualties, the center will makes calls to socially-vulnerable senior citizens to check on their well-being and conduct in-person visits if needed.

It will also be charged with delivering meals to seniors who live alone and providing night shelters and supplies for the homeless to help keep them warm. 

The center will send out tips and guidelines on ways citizens can protect their health and stay safe in the extreme cold via social networking services.
