A cold snap will hit South Korea on Wednesday, with morning lows ranging from minus 11 degrees to one degree Celsius and daytime highs from minus five to seven degrees.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA), temperatures will plunge primarily due to cold air entering the upper layers of the atmosphere from the north.

Cold air traveling over the warmer waters of the Yellow Sea may also result in snow or rain Tuesday night in northern parts of South Chungcheong Province, areas along the west coast, some inland southern regions and the southernmost island of Jeju.

By Wednesday, snow is expected to spread to western coastal areas in southern Gyeonggi Province and North Chungcheong Province.

Jeju, Ulleung Island and Dokdo could receive up to 10 centimeters of snow or 10 millimeters of rain through early Thursday.

Meanwhile, parts of the Jeolla and South Chungcheong provinces could receive up to eight centimeters of snow or up to five millimeters of rain.

The greater Seoul area, Gangwon Province, the Chungcheong region, North Jeolla Province and North Gyeongsang Province are expected to receive up to five centimeters of snow from Thursday afternoon to evening.
