President Lee Jae Myung will participate in a citizen march marking the anniversary of former President Yoon Suk Yeol’s declaration of martial law.
The presidential office said in a press release on Tuesday that Lee will take part in the march, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in front of the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul.
A civic group aimed at preserving and commemorating the records and historical significance of civic actions related to the martial law declaration is organizing the march to mark the anniversary of the decree.
Political parties, including the Democratic Party, the Rebuilding Korea Party, the Basic Income Party and the Social Democratic Party, will participate.
On Wednesday, Lee will deliver a speech and hold a press conference with about 80 foreign journalists in the morning.
Lee will then host a luncheon with the five heads of the three branches of government to reflect on the meaning of martial law and discuss future tasks.
