The government has brought in approximately 13-thousand Blackwell graphics processing units(GPU) from Nvidia.

According to the science ministry on Monday, the chip giant has supplied a batch of GPUs to South Korea as part of its promise to supply approximately 260-thousand Blackwell chips to the government and major firms.

Yonhap News reported that the government had made the purchase using nearly one-and-a-half trillion won in funds secured from the extra budget passed in May.

The latest batch reportedly includes Nvidia's latest B200 chip.

The government will first allocate GPUs to universities, research centers, and start-ups early next year, before providing them to the public sector.

Nvidia announced in October that it would supply 50-thousand Blackwell GPUs each to Samsung, SK and Hyundai Motor, 60-thousand to Naver and another 50-thousand to the South Korean government.
