A Seoul court will decide as early as Tuesday whether to detain former People Power Party floor leader Choo Kyung-ho on charges of blocking a vote to terminate martial law on December 3.

The Seoul Central District Court will hold Choo's detention hearing at 3 p.m. next Tuesday.

The move comes a day after the National Assembly passed a motion to arrest Choo.

Prosecutors suspect that the former floor leader attempted to obstruct a crucial vote that lifted the Dec. 3 martial law declaration at former President Yoon Suk Yeol's request.

Choo allegedly did so by changing the location of an emergency party meeting multiple times, alternating between the National Assembly and the party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.
