South Korea's Huh Myung-sook has won the country's first gold medal at the Athens Paralympics.

Huh took the gold in the women's 50-meter three-position rifle event with a score of 661-point-six on Monday. Kim Im-yeon of South Korea won the silver medal in the same competition.

Monday's victory was Huh's second medal-winning performance, after she won a silver earlier on Sunday in the 10-meter three-position rifle competition.

South Korea currently ranks 16th in the medal tally with one gold and two silvers.

Since 1960, the Paralympics have convened every four years, bringing together international athletes with disabilities in friendly competition.
