Foreigners Own 104,000 Homes in S. Korea, 56% Held by Chinese Nationals

Foreigners owned about 104‑thousand homes in South Korea as of June, with more than half held by Chinese nationals.

According to data released Friday by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, foreign‑owned homes totaled 104‑thousand‑65 at the end of June, marking zero-point-53 percent of homes in the country and a three‑point‑eight percent increase from December of last year.

A total of 102‑thousand‑477 foreign nationals currently own homes in South Korea.

Seventy-two‑point‑five percent of foreign‑owned homes were in Seoul.

Chinese citizens held the largest share of foreign-owned units at 56‑point‑six percent, followed by U.S. nationals at 21‑point‑six percent and Canadians at six‑point‑two percent.
